IOUForever™ is a private place to preserve your stories, care preferences, and heartfelt letters, so the people you love always know how to care for you and can hold onto your memory. It is built for anyone facing a debilitating condition, and for the families who carry a loved one's memory forward.
Our Structure
IOUForever is operated by IOUMore, LLC under license from IOU, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit (EIN 81-2203628). IOU, Inc. operates a charitable program that provides IOUForever at no cost to people and families impacted by ALS, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, MS, and other debilitating conditions, and to veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families, funded by sponsors, grants, and donors.

A Message from Our Founder

The Internet of Us
IOU started in 2016 with a letter to my kids. My son had just been born, and I wanted to put a promise in writing — about the kind of digital world I wanted to build for my family.
Everyone in tech was talking about the "Internet of Things." But the things most impacted by things are us — people. Our families. So I wrote down a simple idea: IOU — the Internet of Us.
With it came a set of promises:
- IOU — Safety
- IOU — Security
- IOU — Privacy
- IOU — Technology
- IOU — Life
- IOU — More
After dealing with my own health challenges, losing my mother, and reflecting on my time in service, those promises became personal. I realized how many families are left scrambling when the unexpected happens — whether it's a deployment, a diagnosis, or just the reality that none of us are promised tomorrow.
Serving the military has been part of my work for a long time. At the Georgia Department of Revenue I helped bring vehicle tag and title services directly onto Fort Benning, so soldiers and their families did not have to leave post to handle them. The Governor recognized that work with a state Customer Service award in 2008. I also led the first-in-the-nation redesign of Georgia's military license plates to carry each branch's emblem and service ribbons, giving service members and veterans a state-issued way to show what they gave. IOULegacy's free accounts for veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families continue that same commitment.
That's especially true for the millions of people living with ALS, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, MS, and other conditions that slowly take away your ability to do the things you keep putting off. If that's you or someone you love, IOULegacy gives you a way to get your affairs in order, preserve your story, and protect your family — while you still can.
